Herrera; a dominant force in mourinho's era

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has emerged as one of the key player since the arrival of Jose Mourinho last season. It took a season under Jose Mourinho to turn Ander Herrera into the player Manchester United thought they were getting after he endured a difficult start to life at Old Trafford three seasons ago.

The ex-Athletic Bilbao player looked lost at times under Van Gaal, but Mourinho’s ability to harness Herrera’s qualities has proved one of his greatest successes at United.

The 27-year-old  is so composed in possession and quick thinking , a player with the bite and tenacity that wins the heart of the supporters. The speed with which he moves the ball is a quality Mourinho wants to inject elsewhere in his team. He has the technique of becoming the best player of his generation.

The Spanish midfielder’s man of the match award in the Europe League final in Stockholm, and his man-marking of Eden Hazard in a 2-0 victory against Chelsea was the perfect example of the balance Mourinho is trying to implement at United and Herrera has become pivotal to his plans.

  Herrera was  named supporters  player of the year , breaking David de Gea’s three-year domination of the Sir Matt Busby Award, and he contributed greatly to a season were United won two major trophies and returned to the Champions League. Now he is being talked about as a future captain in the spirit of United’s great midfielders Bryan Robson and  Roy Keane.
